These are videos that I like

Today’s featured videos are of the University of Kentucky Jazz band performing at Elmhurst College for the 50th annual Jazzfest.

This first video has a couple great solos by bassoonist Jonathan Barrett, including one where he incorporates some effects into act.  Outstanding.

And here’s a performance of an upbeat tune “When You Gotta Go, You Gotta Go,” from the same concert.

Today’s featured videos come courtesy of the quartet ADHD.  The sixth release, the simply titled ADHD6, was yesterday’s daily recommendation (go read it).

First up is a promo video that opens with an interview, then leads into a live performance of the album track “Spessi.”

Today’s video features the ensemble Saagara and their performance at The Krakow Sessions at Klub Alchemia.

Today’s videos feature the music of the Fanny Gunnarsson Quartet.  Their new album Mirrors was yesterday’s daily recommendation (go read it).

First up is an in-studio performance of the album’s opening track “Theme.”

And we’ll wrap up with a performance of the song “To Know You” on the show Tiny Malme Sessions.  As best as I can tell, the show is the video of Mikel Morueta Holme and audio Jonas Jönsson collaborating to get the spotlight on artists on the Malmö, Sweden scene.  Pretty cool.

Today’s videos feature music recommended in my most recent Best of Bandcamp Jazz column (go read it) on The Bandcamp Daily.

First up is a live performance by clarinetist Anat Cohen and guitarist Marcello Gonçalves at the 54th Villa Lobos Festival.  They’re performing the song “Coisa Nº 10″ from their new album Outra Coisa.  It’s one of two new albums Cohen has out this month, both released on Anzic Records.

Next up is a live in-studio performance of “Supernova” by Bryan & The Aardvarks.  If you’re looking for music that draws every bit of life from a melody, the last two albums released by bassist Bryan Copeland’s Aardvarks ensemble is the thing for you.  Start with his newest, Sounds From The Deep Field, released on the new and very promising Biophilia Records.

And let’s wrap up with a video for the song “Starving, Anorexic” by Max Andrzejewski´s HÜTTE and The Homegrown Organic Gospel Choir.  The drummer has been working with a choir for his last two recordings, and his thematic vision of food on his newest shows that he’s getting even better at mixing his quartet’s quirky style with the choir element.  It’s released on WhyPlayJazz.
