These are videos that I like: Nils Berg Cinemascope
Today’s videos feature the work of Nils Berg Cinemascope.
The trio has received some strong recommendations from this site (and via the old eMusic & Wondering Sound gigs) for past recordings, and their newest, Searching For Amazing Talent From Punjab, is no different.
Go read about that album, which was yesterday’s recommendation.
And now, about those videos…
This first video features the song “Gråt nu, skratta senare” from the new album, and it shows how this project was always meant to be a live experience and how they pull it off.
And this next video is a performance of the song “Furusato,” which appears on their sophomore release Vocals. I absolutely love their shoot location: Bridge, water, skyline in the distance… winning video in my book.
And here’s a live performance of one of my favorite tracks, from their debut Popmotion, the song “We Are Nobody.”
And here’s a little promo video the trio put together that succinctly describes who they are and what they do.

These are videos that I like: Kungobram at Mains d’Oeuvres, Trio Repelente at Disjuntor, The Flash! at Alchemia
Today’s featured videos put the spotlight on ensembles that were included in the two most recent This Is Jazz Today columns.
First up is the ensemble Kungobram, who’s infectious groove-styled music is bolstered by some lovely melodic textures. A big reason for this is how they feature the kamalengoni, an African rhythm harp. Here’s a promo they put together from a live show at Mains d’Oeuvres.

Next up is a live performance from Trio Repelente. This from São Paulo, Brazil trio works up a rhythmic storm that allows the enchanting threads of melody to slip on through. This 2016 show at Disjuntor is their new album in a nutshell. Check out their YouTube page for more videos from this show.

And our third and final video today of the power trio The Flash! This live show at Krakow’s Alchemia is a pretty good indicator of the levels of fun that come out in their new album.
