These are videos that I like: Dinosaur “Hardanger”
Today’s featured video is from the quartet Dinosaur performing live at Fieldgate Studio. The song, “Hardanger,” is a track off their new album Together, as One, and was one of my recommendations from last month’s Best of Bandcamp Jazz column.
As we wait for the newest column to publish (perhaps, even, later today), here’s a little music to get us by. Also, holiday lights, which if I see ’em in a video, I’m probably gonna feature that video.
Your video personnel: Laura Jurd (trumpet), Elliot Galvin (keyboard), Conor Chaplin (electric bass) and Corrie Dick (drums).
I really liked the turn of events on this album. Their previous release (when they were going by the name Laura Jurd Quartet) was a nifty display of jazz and strings. But Together, as One jumps into the deep end of the electro-acoustic sound, and it’s interesting to compare and contrast the approaches between the two albums.
You can read more about their last album, Landing Ground, here on this site (LINK). It’s definitely worth checking out.

These are videos that I like: Le Boeuf Brothers + Jack Quartet, live in studio
Today’s featured video is from the Le Boeuf Brothers and the JACK Quartet, performing the song “Pretenders” from their excellent new release Imaginist.
That album, as it so happens, was one of my recommendations on the most recent Best of Bandcamp Jazz column for October. Follow the LINK to read more about that album and listen to some of the tracks.
Now, here’s that video…
Your video personnel: Remy Le Boeuf (alto Sax, bass clarinet), Pascal Le Boeuf (piano), Ben Wendel (tenor sax), Martin Nevin (bass), Peter Kronreif (drums), Ari Streisfeld (violin), Christopher Otto (violin), John Pickford Richards (viola), Kevin McFarland (cello) and Simon Yu (video production).
Check out more of the music (and another video) on the artist’s Bandcamp page.
