These are videos that I like: Lasure, Bogaerts & Dahm driving through Antwerp

 

Today’s featured video is from the trio of pianist Hendrik Lasure, saxophonist Erik Bogaerts and drummer Pit Dahm.  The song is “Get Well,” and it’s from their self-titled new release.

That album will be one of the featured recordings on today’s Bandcamp List, which will post later this afternoon.

These are videos that I like: Christophe Panzani and a bunch of trains

 

Today’s featured video is a trailer from saxophonist Christophe Panzani for his new release Les Âmes Perdues.  It’s a wonderful album, in which Panzani goes on a road trip and performs duets with seven different pianists.  The video, naturally, covers some of that journey.  And as anyone who reads this site knows, great music accompanied by train footage is gonna get featured on this site.

These are videos that I like: Andre Santos and a music box

 

Today’s featured video is a promo from guitarist André Santos for his new album Vitamina D.

Very cool how the music box meshes with the video soundtrack.

Also very cool is his new album.  It was one of my recent Best of Bandcamp Jazz recommendations, which you can read about here (LINK).

André Santos – “Ponto de Partida”It’s also worth your time to check out another Santos album, his 2013 release Ponto de Partida, which you can read about here (LINK).  This write-up also has some other solid albums to check out, so don’t go thinking that the trail of breadcrumbs ends with the click on one link.  It never truly ends.

This is where I get to tell you there’s a new Tunnel Six album

 

Site favorite Tunnel Six has a new album out.  It’s called journeys, places, stories.

A write-up of it is gonna post before long.

tunnelsix_lakesuperiorTheir 2011 album Lake Superior was one of the best things to come out that year, and it’s an album I still find time to listen to.  It’s also one of the very first things I ever wrote on this site, so, god help me, but I’m going to link to it and just hope you’re kind.

Tunnel Six - "Alive"And then there’s the band’s excellent 2013 release Alive, which also got a warm reception on this site.  On the other hand, not sure my writing had gotten a hell of a lot better at that point.

These are videos that I like: Rebecca Trescher Ensemble 11 live at DB Museum Nuremberg

 

rebecca-trescherToday’s featured video is from Rebecca Trescher Ensemble 11, performing live at DB Museum Nuremberg.  The song “Seeking Spider” is on their 2016 release Fields.

Clarinetist Rebecca Trescher is a favorite of this site going back many years.  Her 2012 release Sud and 2014 release Nucleus displayed a sharp lyricism and expert craftsmanship, giving the sense of a storyteller’s tale related through wood carvings and stone etchings.  This new project shows a new side of her creative vision, even as it utilizes some of the same approaches.

I really had trouble picking one video to embed.  There are a bunch on her Youtube page from this Ensemble 11 performance that floated my boat.  I’ll see about maybe obtaining a copy of Fields and, perhaps, giving it a write-up on this site.  In the meantime, here’s that video…
