Later today, I’ll be posting a recommendation for the excellent debut from Arthur Vint & Associates.

So, let’s feature a video from the Album of the Week from the recent This Is Jazz Today.

The song is the title-track from the album Inhale/Exhale by The Watershed, and you really need to check it out if you haven’t yet already.  Here’s a LINK to read more about it.

Here’s a promo video featuring an album track from tomorrow’s featured recommendation, The Only Way To Float Free by Hanami.

Be sure to check in bright and early to hear what’s it’s all about.

Today’s featured video is from guitarist Diego Barber, performing the song “Piru” live.  Aside from being one of my favorite Barber compositions, what I most enjoy about this particular rendition is how energized it is compared to the studio version (appearing on his debut Calima), which was a bit more languorous.  But this version comes crashing out of the gates right from the first note, and it really brings aspects of the composition to life that weren’t as emergent as the studio version.

Of additional interest is that the musicians accompanying him on this song are comprised, instead, by musicians from his sophomore release The Choice… an album that definitely had more of an edge than Calima.  That change is clearly evident on this performance, and it’s great hearing another side to this comp.

Today’s featured video is courtesy of the PJ5, performing the song “The Ancient Law” at a February 2016 show in Paris.  It’s a track that can be found on their newest album, Trees, which was one of the recommendations on the most recent This Is Jazz Today column.  It’s an album that I just keep liking more with each subsequent listen.
