Preview “Known-Unknown,” the upcoming release from Trichotomy
We’re pleased to feature an exclusive track from the upcoming new release from Trichotomy. Known-Unknown is due out February 10th on Challenge Records.
Here’s the track “Imaginary Limits.”
You can pre-order the album on the artist’s Bandcamp page.
Also on February 10th, my interview of Trichotomy pianist Sean Foran will be published on The Bandcamp Daily, in which he talks about the early days of the trio, the changes with his solo project Frame of Reference, and that Australians have been hiding the nifty phrase “bubbled along” from me all my life.

These are videos that I like: Colin Vallon, a trilogy of recordings
Today’s featured videos come courtesy of pianist Colin Vallon. His 2017 release Danse was yesterday’s daily recommendation (go read it).
However, all three of his recordings on the ECM Records label to date have received kind words from me, either on this site or one of my various other outlets. We’re featuring one video for each of those recordings.
We’ll start with his most recent. This is the song “Tsunami” from the 2017 release Danse. It was filmed by Nicolas Masson at Auditorio Stelio Molo, RSI in Lugano.
Your video personnel: Colin Vallon (piano), Patrice Moret (double bass) and Julian Sartorius (drums).
And here’s a video for the song “Juuichi,” from Vallon’s second album for ECM Records, the 2014 release Le Vent…
Video by Fabian Sbarro. Personnel same as for Danse.
And here’s a live performance of the title-track to Vallon’s 2011 release Rruga. It was recorded live at Bern, Switzerland’s bee-flat, IM PROGR back in November 2009.
Your video personnel: Colin Vallon (piano), Patrice Moret (double bass) and Samuel Rohrer (drums).
