David Helbock’s Random/Control – “Voa Ilza”

Today’s video is courtesy of David Helbock’s Random/Control, performing the Hermeto Pascoal composition “Voa Ilza.”

As they do on their recent release Think of Two, they move from instrument to instrument, their hustle substituting for the numbers required for a large ensemble piece.

Your video personnel:  David Helbock (piano, electronics, percussion), Johannes Bär (trumpet, baritone trumpet, helicon), and Andreas Broger (saxophones, bass clarinet).

You can read my recent review of Think of Two by following this LINK.  The trio takes on the compositions of Thelonious Monk and Hermeto Pascoal, adding their own frenetic style and voice to the proceedings.  Nifty album, and way fun.

Also, there’s a solid YouTube video of them performing Monk’s “‘Round Midnight” live, which can be found at this LINK.

Have a great Sunday! (and don’t forget to change to move your clock up an hour today)
