Today’s featured video is from the Joris Roelofs Trio, performing the song “Diana’s Castle” from their new release Aliens Deliberating. Released on Pirouet Records, this trio session, featuring Matt Penman on double bass and drummer Ted Poor, has Roelofs deploying his bass clarinet into situations that alternate between the curious and the sublime, and accentuating his instrument’s peculiar and soulful qualities. It was recently one of my eMusic Jazz Picks, and for good reason. A very engaging album.
This 2014 video was recorded at the Bimhuis for VPRO Vrije Geluiden, a Dutch public broadcast company.
I love how the train is passing by in the background.
Have a great Sunday!
Cheers.
