Guitarist Julian Lage, who recently collaborated with Gary Burton on one of my eMusic Picks of the Week, had a nifty album of his own in 2011. Hearing him on Burton’s Guided Tour inspired me to revisit Lage’s Gladwell, an intriguing folk-jazz fusion that offered up a cerebral cloud juxtaposed against an easy-going backporch languor. Or something like that. You can read a brief synopsis of Lage’s Gladwell on my site, which I covered when I first started Bird is the Worm and began recapping some of the best releases of 2011.
In the meantime, I found a nice video that features music from the album.
Your video personnel: Julian Lage (guitar), Tupac Mantilla (percussion), and Jorge Roeder (bass).
Live from Big Fork, Montana, at the Crown of the Continent Guitar Festival.
Videography and editing by Nic Davis.
Have a great Sunday!
