Today’s video is just about the coolest thing I’ve featured on my video series. It’s the Kit Downes Quintet, performing the song “Outlawed” live on BBC Radio 3‘s Jazz on 3 at The Cockpit for an April 2013 show. The music is set to the nifty animation of the Lesley Barnes film “Herzog and the Monsters.”
Your video personnel: Kit Downes (piano), James Allsopp (bass clarinet), Lucy Railton (cello), Calum Gourlay (double bass), and James Maddren (drums).
There’s some great stuff on the Lesley Barnes site. I highly recommend checking it out.
Also, Kit Downes is a familiar name on Bird is the Worm. This LINK should take you to some columns he’s featured in. In fact, today’s post makes the tenth mention of Kit Downes on this site, so if you follow that link and scan through the articles, you may have to click “next page” at the bottom of the screen in order to view the rest of the articles referencing Downes’ work.
The song “Outlawed,” used in this video, appears to a version of the song by the same name from his album Light From Old Stars (review HERE).
Cheers.
