Notes From The Holler: Jeb Bishop – Tim Daisy Duo in Lexington, KY on Friday 5/18/12
There’s a show of note coming up this Friday. It’s the Jeb Bishop – Tim Daisy Duo, and they’re playing at the Mecca Dance Studio at 7pm (map and links below).
Based out of Chicago, both Bishop and Daisy have been involved in some of the niftiest modern avant-garde and experimental jazz around. In addition to their roles as composers, Bishop, makes his mark on trombone and Daisy on drums and percussion. They’re touring in support of their new release Old Shoulders.
You can read the rest of the info at my sister site: Notes From the Holler.
Also, over time, I’ll be summarizing the Notes From the Holler posts on the Bird is the Worm page HERE (at the moment, this was my inaugural post, so there’s just the one).
Honestly, I haven’t decided yet whether to simply post all Jazz in Kentucky content on both sites or just do a lead-in paragraph like above with a link to my other site. If you’d like to offer any feedback, I’d really appreciate it.
I like the idea of having my Jazz in Kentucky content on just the one site (Notes From the Holler), but I always don’t want to make it a drag on my readers to have to read two sites.
So, yeah, go ahead and comment if you have an opinion.
Cheers.

Hi Dave, the new site is a great idea – encouraging local jazz is important. However, given that you have international readers (I’m in the UK) and no doubt many US readers outside of Kentucky, I would recommend keeping the two sites separate with just a link to Holler rather than duplication of content or summaries. That way, people can choose to follow one or the other, or both.
It would be great if you can get a local jazz festival going. I’ve just been to a few concerts at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival, about 30 minutes away, and was privileged to see Bill Frisell’s trio and the Helge Lien trio. Both stunningly good, Frisell in particular.
Good luck with your new venture.

Hey, Chris.
Thanks for the advice.
I, also, share the thought that I might clutter up BitW if I basically dupe every NFTH post here, as well.
And while I, personally, like reading about jazz regardless of what the context is, there might be BitW readers who would prefer reading album reviews, interviews, and other content that have more of a world-wide reach to them.
Still thinking about it, but BitW reader responses will likely sway me to a final decision.
Cheers.
