So, I’m out of town for my brother-in-law’s bachelor party, and if anybody was expecting me to actually write something up this weekend, well… my only response is to put an ellipsis after the word ‘well’ and let that uncomforable silence hang in the air.
In any event, today and tomorrow I’m going to share a video from ensembles I really enjoy, performing music that doesn’t appear on any proper recording.
Today’s video is by Threads Orchestra, a ensemble out of the UK that mixes jazz, classical, folk (and more) to create a sound that often leaves me transfixed. I wrote a review of their 2011 release “Threads,” here, on Bird is the Worm. I’m in the process of wrapping up a review of their newest release “Ranch” and submitting it to AllAboutJazz.
The video below is for a song called “Chaplin.” It doesn’t really incorporate the disparate elements that I just mentioned, but it’s a beautiful tune and a nice video, so I’m posting it. Enjoy!
