Yes: This Saxophone Kills Fascists
I just found this. It’s a free jazz set from saxophonist Arrington de Dionyso and drummer Sam Klickner. They call themselves This Saxophone Kills Fascists, and in addition to album titles that reference the tragically relevant “First They Came…” statement, the album covers are demonic images of Donald Trump.
I didn’t particularly enjoy this music, but it sure as hell connected. The November recording dates indicate that, in the aftermath of the election, these musicians hit a record button and everything they played came from the heart and with as much anger and fear and hope and every other damn thing they had inside dying to get out. That’s something I can relate to. Because, seriously, fuck this shit.
It’s on Bandcamp.

Dave, thanks for this. In this dangerous time, I have a strong preference for allotting my time and attention to people who stand for the right things, which, the popular vote indicated, the majority still stands for. But, nevertheless, we have an administration now in power which is seriously wrong on so many issues. It is my opinion that there is very little place for standing on the fence at this moment, and that personal resistance to the fascist, white nationalist cabal in the White House is essential to personal integrity and true patriotism. I’m glad that my favorite jazz reviewer is someone who is standing up and resisting. I love jazz because, of all genres, it celebrates a global, full color spectrum of artists and audiences who celebrate the continuing exploration of human expression, invention, memory and unlimited vision. It nurtures the youngest of artists and doesn’t discard the oldest. Thanks, again.

Hey, Thomas. My best reply would be to steal what you said and pretend like I said it myself… both the politics and the very insightful encapsulation of the diversity of jazz.
Cheers.
